Pole Position and a Win at Wake County Speedway

This weekend I raced at Wake County Speedway in the Bandolero Outlaw division and it was a really good day. I qualified on pole which felt great. Being the fastest in qualifying gave me confidence going into the race. My lap times were better than last week and that was one of my biggest goals. Winning is awesome but getting faster each week is what I care about most. Last week I won but there were not many cars to race against. This week there were some good competitors, which made it more exciting and honestly a little nerve wracking too. The Start I started on the inside of the front row. The car next to me got a better jump and got in front of me going into Turn 1. That was frustrating, but I just stayed calm and focused. On lap two she spun. I saw her slowing down and moved to the outside and stayed in the gas. I was able to get around her clean and take the lead back. After that I just focused on hitting my marks and running smooth laps. There were a few cautions during the race but nothing I had to avoid. Restarts I was pretty nervous about restarts before the race. I have not had a lot of experience with them and they are really important. If you do not time it right you can lose spots fast and it is hard to catch back up. The first restart was not my best. I hesitated a little. But after that I felt better and started to understand the timing more. That is something I am going to keep working on. The Car Thank you to Bore Performance for setting up the car and coaching me. The car felt really good and the lap times showed it. When the car feels right it makes it easier to focus on driving instead of fighting it. What's Next Next week is Media Day so we have an off week. After that we have two more Bull Bash races before the season officially starts. I am excited to keep improving and keep getting faster. Winning against good competition feels great, but I know I still have a lot to learn. See you at the track. 🏁 - Jack
